Difficult to turbo celica gt 7th 1zzfe?

i have a 2000 celica gt silver.
has the 1zzfe motor.. over winter were swapping in a fresh engine and tranny, and i want to turbo..
i have a buddy with a un-used t3-t4 hybrid turbo which im interested in running..
typically lags up to 3k then power hits. which would be what i want.
its a "universal kit" but i was wondering if its hard to turbo a celica like this? let me know people. thanks.
jake.

Depends on how well the kit is built and what it includes.

If you're serious about it, then get in touch with Monkey Wrench Racing, they'll have everything you need to get your turbo setup up and running. They got plenty of experience in high boost 1ZZ-FE applications.

Have you decided whether you ae going ahead with it? I was planning the same too.

But was wondering whether to pick up or SWAP into a 2ZZGE engine as it is better for high revving! the internals are more cappable of coping with a turbo kit.

the 1zzfe stock will let you boot it to just under 7000rpm, where as the 2zzge will take it to 8000rpm, but is more stable.

There is another engine, the BEAMS engine, which lets you go to 9000rpm.

I have heard the 1ZZ head gives up shortly after a turbo install, but like the VTEC, a 2ZZGE head cannot be put onto the 1ZZFE block. the 2ZZ has an oil feed where as the 1ZZ does not.

there is no way you can rev the BEAMS up to 9000 without upgrading the valve train. and the oil is not the only reason you cant put a 2ZZ head on a 1ZZ. it FLAT OUT WONT FIT!
