I was really close to doing the same swap until I talked to a mechanic who has done the swap and he told me that you need to get the 2wd turbo tranny???(never heard of this tranny being used in a 3S-GTE, but its what I was told)

you also need a downpipe, wiring harness, ECU, airflow sensor, MAP sensor, that should come with the motor, but are essential to get if you dont have. You also must make sure your drive shafts are going to mate up with your tranny. I believe you also need a fuel pump, either an after market one, or a turbo supra fuel pump will work. Plus theres modification needed to be done to the exhaust system.

Remember, this is what a mechanic who has done the swap has told me, if anyone else knows more things needed, or can correct me, please do so, as I am also interested in knowing exactly what is needed, as I am still indecisive of swapping the 3S-GTE or doing a 5S-FTE.

you can use your 5sfe tranny...5sfe fuel pump...you just need a custom pipe to connect to your stock pipe...there are some sensors that you will need as well...

The best option for a transmission is to use the mr2 tranny and modify it to drive the front wheels. If not that, then go with a V6 camry's tranny. Both those tranny's will be able to take the torque from the swap better than the 5sfe tranny.

he's right you can use a v6 camry tranny. you should of bought a celica alltrac front clip it not that expensive. With that you have every thing you need to do the swap. fuel pump, motor mount, and other things. you also need a new hood because the intercooler is mounted on top of the motor.

Yeah, a front clip is the best way to go. Even with that though, you're still gonna have to look for parts. I forget what else, but thats the difficulty of a 3sgte swap. Everything is never in a package.
