Canada Toyota celica GTS st 162 turbo project

hi, this is the built thread of my friend project.. a '86 celica gts with a 1st gen turboed 3s-ge

there will be pictures of the work done on the car and also some questions about problem we will be facing.

basic description of he set-up

-forged engine (by an ex owner... we will try to get more precise info about that)
- t3/t4 turbo
- turbosmart 35mm wastegate
- BOV turbosmart
- crane cam fireball coil and ignition

here are some pictures!

the ex owner wasnt really perfectionnist so twisted taped was a standart...we're trying to do better..:P

a little special project...

so here we are. winter is coming in and the car in the garage so we can work on it. we started by the wiring and piping to try to make the actual mess a little more cleaner. while going thru multiple options we tough about relocates the AFM after the turbo. near the throttle body like often done on mazda's but we were wondering if it would work good with toyota's door AFM or if the system would be leaking and would give us other problems. if you have any information that could help us...

radiator removal 101 :P

done !
it was a joke to remove the fan was hold by 1 bolt and a tie wrap and the rad itself was brand new (by the way it was a corolla radiator)

now its time to make new brackets to support the del sol rad

since the new rad is not arrived yet i decided to look for the oil leak

the previous owner didn't wanted to invest in a 20 $ oil pan seal so he preferred to put gasket maker witch obviously didn't made the job...

today i clocked the turbo

doing this helped to reduce the piping by the half

now i only need a 90 degree silicone pipe to reach the intercooler

unfortunately the inlet is not as the best place...

the inlet is directly in front on the wastegate

i did some custom radiator mounts

the principle is the same as standard rad mounts a steel plate for rigidity and rubber for vibration resistance

perfect fit :P
