bigger brakes on 1992 ?

Hi !

i have a 93 celica gt convertible. i also bought a 92 gt hatchback for parts.
I took the brake brackets, caliper and discs from the 92, sandblasted, painted and cured the paint, they are beautiful. but when i installed them on my 93 celica, i noticed the rotors were bigger and the bracket is a little longer ?
arent the brakes the same ? could it be that those were from an all track celica ?
the problem is that everything fits , but the brake pad goes over the outer edge of the rotor by about an inch. could it be that the 92 had a different knuckle ?
tanks !

Well whats the manufacture date for the hatchback?

Today at work, I'll check a few part numbers, see if anything changes over.

I have a '91 RHD GTfour and a LHD '92 All-trac...the rotors on my '92 are about an inch bigger diameter than on the '91.

i think ill just go to an autozone and ask him to show me the brakes before i buy the new ones, maybe ill find out that way. ill have to start a list of the components for this car.. brakes from 92, engine from 94.. gettin complicated

92/93 brakes are the same. 92s definitely aren't bigger than 93s. Production start date for 92s would be Sep 91. Someone probably got the wrong brakes put on the car, they bolt onto each other.

Someone probably cheaped out and bought FWD rotors for your 91, AFAIK all ST185s had the same brakes [other than the 2 piston calipers on the early ones].

The '91 and '92 that I have are totally different....I mean other than the fact that they're both disc setup, obviously. Did the RC/CS model use larger brakes? My '92 has the entire drivetrain from one swapped into it.
