Prizm motor in Celica swap? Will it work?

I have a buddy who has a celica that was hydrolocked when he purchased it. The motor has bent rods. I recently removed the 1.8L out of my chevy prizm for rebuild. It is a 2000. His motor that is bad is a 1.8L as well. He wants to buy my core motor to rebuild for his celica. Will it work if they are both 1.8L fwd models? He will be using all his own sensors and manifolds. Just curious if the long blocks are the same and if it will work?

Thanks!

What year Celica?

2000 Corolla engine would work in 2000+ Celicas but the 1.8L found in '94-'99 Celicas are a completely different engine series

if the engine come out of anything but a celica or MR2 spyder. the back of the block must be drilled and tapped to mount the axle bearing carrier.

if the engine was hydrolocked, and rods broke, that block is probably toast. it might be sleeved and salvaged, but if the crank rotated and the broken rod spun around in there. it caused more damage.
