5sfe 1993 celica - reinstalling timing belt

Hi everyone,
It
In the process of a timing belt change on my 93 5sfe celica (Thx for the detailed write up by dz63).

Anyway, I'm now reinstalling the new belt using match marks I made for the cam and crank locations from the old belt. Unfortunately, I lost the match marks on the crank pulley (not the cam pulley) while cleaning everything up. What is the best way to install the new belt at this point? I have aligned the cam and crank pulleys with the timing marks but the belt keeps moving around after I put the tension back on. When u rotate the crank 2 revolutions, it doesn't line up at the cam and the belt shows a lot of slack. Any secrets out there on how to reinstall the belt without having two extra arms? Thx.

You prob. just dont have the crank at the right point. Your crank moves 2 rotation for every 1 of your cam. When turning the crank to the right pos. put a screwdriver in the 1st cyl. and when its at TDC and the align mark is in the right location your set to instal the belt. When installing the belt make sure ther is no slack on the opposite side of the tensioner. You should turn the crank 4 times to get 1 full rotation.

P.S. You may be in align but your just not going enough rotations, remeber 4 crank rotations = 1 complete rotation.
(i.e. why its called a 4 stroke motor.
