Unhappy Water in oil HELP!

Here is the story. My 82 celica ran hot and warped the head. The only problem it had was steam out the exhaust. No water in the oil before I tore it down. I tore the motor down and had the head milled. I replaced every gasket that I removed. Now I have water in the oil after running the motor. My dad ran the motor while I was at work, I don't know if he got it too hot. He wouldn't tell me if he did. I don't know were I could have gone wrong. I'm only 17 but I have rebuilt several engines, just never a 22r before.

If anyone could give me a possible cause it would be a big help. So far I'm thinking bad head gasket, more cylinder head problems, or a cracked block. The bottom end has over 350K miles on it. I hope that it is a simple fix, but i can't think of any place other than the 3 I stated were water could get in the oil.

I really don't want to pull the head back off, but it looks like I might have no choice.

Did you replace the timing chain while in there? 22R's have a nasty habit of wearing a hole in the timing cover allowing water to get into oil. If this is the source it can be seen by removing the valve cover and pressurize the cooling system. Look about halfway down on left side.

Yes, I replaced the timimg chain. Is that a possible cause, or does that happen from not replacing the timing chain?

you might take the valve cover off an look down, check to see the chain is still tight. sometimes the plastic tensioner that comes with the kits wear extremly fast. pressurise the cooling system if you can with the valve cover off and watch for a leak. You may also consider having the oil pan off for the pressure test.

Already have the valve cover off, and the chain is tight.

I'm going to pressure test it, just need to borrow a pressure tester.

I hate auto zone, they gave me the wrong adapter for the radiator.

Anyway, I mananged to rig up a way to pressurize the coolant system. Turns out that the timming comer is leaking, but it is from a bolt breaking through it. It's the center bolt, just left of the pulley. I really don't want to pull the timing cover back off. So do you think that I can seal this bolt off well enough not to have any problems? All it did was break off a small peaice of aluminum. The end of the bolt does not even stick out, and all the threads are still intact.

Well, I pulled the timing cover and covered the bolt hole with JB weld. I replaced all the gaskets again and cleaned them prior to that. Put everything back together and it still leaks. I don't even have to put pressure on the system. I'm thinking I have a major problem here. I going to take the oil pan of like you said and see where it comes from, but I'm sure it's coming from the timing cover.
