92 Celica GTS

Ok here is the story

I have been looking to buy a Celica...now there is a 92 Celica GTS with power everything for sale for $2500 Canadian but the engine is gone.

As I understand it that year/model of celica came with a 4AFE or a 5SFE engine. What are the differences of these engines??...and are these my only 2 options for an engine for a 92 Celica GTS?

I see that the 4AFE engine is a 1.6 and the 5SFE is a 2.2 so the 5SFE seems to be the better engine since I want a faster car.

So basically im wondering....
A.) is $2500 (Canadian remember) for a 92 Celica GTS with no motor an average/good deal?
B.) If I were to buy the car which engine would you recommend I buy if im looking for optimum preformance (is there another engine compatable with the 92 Celica GTS that out preforms the 5SFE?)

Thanks for your time and opinions guys.

The ST come with 4A-FE, 105HP . GT and GTS come with 5S-FE, 130HP. GTS got more options and has rear disc instead of drum and extra sway bar. $2500 with no engine is too much $$$. You can find lower price one with engine on AutoTrader. You can get an high milage one with good body to rebuild the engine.
You can sway in the 3S-GTE turbo for 200+ HP. The engine is used in Celica All Trac and GT4. The thing is you'll need ECU and other thing to go with the sway engine.

I'd buy that car and install a 3S-GTE for 205 HP+; the engine will bolt right in and there would be minor work to be done (wiring, piping for the intercooler etc) no need to fabricate engine mounts or cutting or welding involved... straight swap

So I offered the guy $1700

This car is in excellent shape inside and out.....all the other Celicas have 200k+ and want like $3500 I do agree that $2500 with no engine is too steep.

Now for a 3S-GTE its an easy install but will I need to upgrade the tranny as well or can it handed the extra touque???

Thanks for the advice guys

PS: How much will a 32-GTE cost me?
