sloppy shifter feeling on my 83 GT. what to do?

what's up everyone!

well.. just got a 1983 Celica GT and the shifter feels sloppy and loose. There's a ton of play on it.. and it feels like a mile between each gear from shift to shift.

does anyone know what parts I need to replace.. bushings, bearings.. I have no idea what parts are needed so any information would be greatly appreciated.

bushings yes linkages mabey need pic.. umm its basicly an old gromet or bushing that is inderneath the leather cover and plastic cover and i can't really recall it being hard at all. espeacialy for an older car its got to be alot easyer.
