emergency break

just wondering approx how much you would expect to repair/replace an emergency break on a 5th gen celica.

since i don't know enough about cars, i have to get a mechanic to do it who is charging 267$ parts and labour.

Man, tell him to show u whats wrong. 5th gens are notorious for the front cable breaking. $20 and 10 minutes to fix, might need a buddy to do it with you, but man, $267 is a bit much !

the reason you paid so much is the emergency brakes cost around 90-100 for 4 shoes. they each come in their own little box with toyota all over it. what a rip. and oem only...

then again a local rebuilder charges ~20-30.

I get all my brake parts from NAPA, only thing I buy OEM is rotors cause they last forever, the currents are at 50,000 K of total abuse and still are good. I suggest you shop around for parts, toyota isnt your only source.
