I need help with my intake please!!

Hey, guys, I'll be honest with you. I just recently got my 89 celica gt and everything is stock. I want to experiment and get better with cars, and I want to start with upgrading my intake. First of all, is there a cold air or ram intake kit I can buy for an 89 GT? If not, how do you recommend I start? Also, I saw a lot of cone filters being sold on ebay that replace the stock air box, but does that really help at all? If you can help me I would really appreciate it.

Buy your self a cone filter and MAF adapter and put that on instead of your airbox.

If you want more you can get a pipe bend to fit in place of the plastic piece.

Full CAI or K&N drop in filter.
SRI suck in too much hot air. Not good for street use at all. Even in winter when its -20C outside.

Drop in filters dont do shit, unless you modify the pipe/snorkel coming from the front of the car, SRI's are better than stock airbox in winter / colder times but on hotter days man u can notice the heatsoak~! But i still personally believe even heatsoaked SRIs are better than stock airbox.. My advice would be to look at making your own CAI like noscan's

Put a thermostat in your SRI and you'll see if its good or not.

BTW, stock airbox DOES get a pipe/snorkel coming from front of the car.

Even in winter SRI still sucking atleast 50C hotter air under the hood. I was watching my thermostat for a year in my SRI. Everytime you stop, temp go up 10C. It go down while you're driving, 5C until you stop again. So you gain 5C on every red light. I saw mine went pass 75C so went and make a CAI.
