5th gen shifter questions.

OK, here is my dilemma. I own an early 91 celica GT and my shifter is worn out. My question to you folks is this. When I went to Toyota today to research this problem they tell me that early 91 shifter comes in peices and late 91 up until 99 (same) came as a unit, will this unit work in my early 91 ?

Yeah it will, you could also probably grab one at a junkyard.

Theres only 1 5th gen scrapped in a yard here and its raped, but I cant remember if the shifter is there. I intend on checking it out as soon as the rain lets up here. I didnt think there would be any real differences between the 2 shifters, but I thought Id ask first.

You don't necessarily need a Celica Shifter, if you can find any manual shifter out of a Toyota it'll probably work. Look for a '92+ shifter if you can, they've got shorter throws.
