Unhappy Vvti Engine Needs Replace Help!!!

HELP HELP HELP
I HAVE A CELICA 2000 18 VVTI (1ZZ) THE ENGINE HAS BLEW,AND MY WARRENTY HAS EXPIRED. IT TURNS OUT THAT THE CON ROD HAS BROKE OFF FLEW FOUND AND LODGED INTO THE BLOCK.THE MAIN DEALER ISNT BEING A BIT OF HELP.MAYBE BECAUSE HE FIRST WANTED TO CHARGE ME £5.5OO TO SUPPLY ME WITH A NEW ONE.IWHICH I HAVE REJECTED.HE THEN INFORMED ME THAT I HE COULD LOCATE A RECON FOR AROUND £1900 WHICH SEEMS OK ON THE SURFACE BUT I CAN ACTUALLY GET ONE FOR AROUND £1000.ON TELLING HIM THIS HE BECAME VERY UN CO-OPERATIVE. HES TOLD ME THAT IF I GET MY OWN ENGINE THERE IS NO WAY THAT HE WILL KNOW THAT IT WILL MATCH UNTIL HE FIRST REMOVES MY OLD ENGINE AND PUTS THE RECON IN. IVE TOLD HIM THAT I CAN GET A 1999,2001 AND 2002 1.8VVTI 1ZZ ENGINE.BUT HE NOW SAYS THAT THE ECU UNIT MAY OR MAY NOT RECONISE THOSE ENGINES. IS THERE ANYBODY OUT THERE WHO CAN HELP HELP HELP?

Get another shop to install it. He's trying to blame you for something. There are little changes from year to year so get a shop that do engine rebuild/swap to do the job. They'll know which engine to get.
