Hi I have a uk spec 5th gen 3sge,and I have just completed installing a new head gasket.
The engine is sounding sweet and starts ok,but it is running very rich even when warmed up!Eventually it chokes itself to death and stalls and takes a while to re-start!
I am woundering if I have got a pipe wrong way or something as it ran ok before I did the head gasket.
It starts ok but is throwing black rich smoke out the back and I have pulled a plug and it is black and sooty!
I have taken the cold start injector out and started the engine from cold and the injector comes on straight away but does not seem to switch off, where is the time switch for it on these?
What else could make it run rich?
Fuel Pressure?
TVI-S System?
Injectors?
I am a bit stuck.
There is also no diagnostic warning on dash so it can not be electrical can it?
The haynes manual only shows the american spec 3sge,mine is a bit different being uk(no egr or emission system).

I know for a fact that the new timing belt I installed is perfect on the exhaust cam but I was unsure as to wether it was a tooth out on the inlet ,would that cause it to run rich or would it not run at all!Just a thought?
