Very rich 5th Gen 3sge

Hi I have a uk spec 5th gen 3sge,and I have just completed installing a new head gasket.
The engine is sounding sweet and starts ok,but it is running very rich even when warmed up!Eventually it chokes itself to death and stalls and takes a while to re-start!
I am woundering if I have got a pipe wrong way or something as it ran ok before I did the head gasket.
It starts ok but is throwing black rich smoke out the back and I have pulled a plug and it is black and sooty!
I have taken the cold start injector out and started the engine from cold and the injector comes on straight away but does not seem to switch off, where is the time switch for it on these?
What else could make it run rich?
Fuel Pressure?
TVI-S System?
Injectors?
I am a bit stuck.
There is also no diagnostic warning on dash so it can not be electrical can it?
The haynes manual only shows the american spec 3sge,mine is a bit different being uk(no egr or emission system).
I know for a fact that the new timing belt I installed is perfect on the exhaust cam but I was unsure as to wether it was a tooth out on the inlet ,would that cause it to run rich or would it not run at all!Just a thought?

The cold start injector stops to function after the ECU gets a signal from the engine temp sensor and then shuts it down

5th Gen 3S-GE did not have T-VIS but ACIS with is practically the same thing.

The 3S-GE you see in the Haynes manual is the first generation 3S-GE that came in ST16X (4th Gen) Celicas in the U.S.. 5th Gen Celica for US/Canada got the 5S-FE, so yes... our 3S-GE makes more power than the NADM Celica and we dont have a EGR valve or none of that clean-environment-performance-reducing equipment
