91 Celica won't start in damp/wet

Recently bought 91 celica won't start in damp or wet weather. This was a problem we also experienced with our 87, but only after periods of heavy rain (where I live it's pretty dry, so it wasn't much of an issue. But the 91 is challenged in mist!

Any ideas?

I've read elsewhere (re: Camry) that it could be that the ignition wires have dried out and need replacing. Has anyone had success with this?

Or - a Camry-specific issue (not sure it applies to Celicas). Camrys apparently have a moisture sealing problem with the ignition coil. The recommendation was to replace the distributor cap and wires, and if the problems continues, to replace the ignition coil as well.

Has anyone solved this one for a Celica?
Thanks, Sandi

Have you replaced the distribuitor rubber seal...? also, has the distributor cap have the L shapped hoses?

Moisture could come from a torn or missing rubber seal on the distribuitor.

I haven't tried anything yet. Is replacing the distribuitor rubber seal the first thing to try?

I have no idea about the shape of the hose. Does that make a difference?

Thanks for the quick reply!

Check all ignition item. Take to coil out and see if its rust to pieces. Mine was and it looks perfect when mounted.
