Dome light Switch?

Is the dome light supposed to come on when you open the door on a '91 GT-S. The dome works when I switch it on but the door(s) have no effect. Maybe two bulbs in there?
thanks

Yeah, I had the same peoblem with mine. The door switch gets corroded, you just need to take it out and WD-40 it.

- Remove the rubber cover
- Unscrew the switch
- Clean the contact areas, ESPECIALLY the metal part where the mounting plate meets the car's chassis. This is the ground for the sensor (you see how it only has one wire coming out of it? The return path for the current is through your car's chassis).
- Reassemble
- Enjoy your dome light!

Ok here's the not so smart on my part question. In the old days the switch was a button on the front side of the chassis and when the opened it acuated. The only thing I saw is maybe a switch in the rear part of the chassis where the door latches. Is this where the switch is?

Low profile, Black rubber cover, Reveal screw and easy removal. Clean it up and it should work fine.

BTW, you're going to have to clean it every couple months, or at least I do.

Is the switch on the right setting?
Do the red side door lights come on when opening the door?
You can get a switch off of ebay for around 12 bucks if cleaning doesn't work.
Originally I was messing with the wrong light, duh, I think the one above my head and to the rear a bit was the one that is suppose to light not the one near the windsheild.

I'm guessing the switch is on the right setting, however no dome light as of today, and I have attempted to clean the connections twice. No red "open door" indicator light on the dash. Nothing. Do I need new switches??
