Loss of power after 10 seconds

I've noticed while at work (I deliver pizza) that when I take off and head down a road, about ten seconds later my car just stops accelerating altogether. It doesn't die (unless I come to a stop), no amount of pressing the gas or not pressing it will change it, the clutch, in or out, has no effect, but after another five to ten seconds it starts to take the gas again. This seems to only happen whenever the car's already been driven a bit beforehand. Hope that helps in understanding the problem. Any ideas?

Could be many things, I'd go over ignition parts to start and then move onto fuel delivery. I always suggest pulling the plugs to have a look, on 4 cyl cars it takes 5 mins and can give some clues, its even free if you've got a plug socket.

Oh, and try this, before you start your car the next time, turn the key to the on position, but don't start it, wait about 10 seconds and then turn the key all the way to the start position. See if that changes anything.

Well, I just switched the plugs, ditributor cap, and ignition wires recently, and it really hasn't changed. It's one of those 9 times out of 10 it'll be fine, then that one time it'll come up.

How did the plugs look when you pulled them?

Personally I would check all of your ground wires (and battery terminals). Even if they do not look bad clean them and reseat them on some good metal. If that doesnt do it get a fuel pressure test done. If you are feeling REALLY ambitious you can check voltages and resistances to the fuel pump, injectors, etc.(this would be a later resort) By the way just to cover the obvious, which somehow that gets overlooked from time to time, is there any check engine lights on? if so make sure to pull the codes. Let us know
