Clutch problems

Hi Everyone,

So I've been driving with a slipping clutch for 2 months, and it finally died on me last night on the highway. I pulled into a gas station and the car wouldnt even move an inch forward or backward! I can even change gears around without pressing the clutch!

Anyway my question is, I'm getting a new clutch, The assembly is running around $250 Cdn. How many hours of labour should I expect without being ripped off, and/or how much $$ in total to change it over? I think the flywheel has to be machined and everything as well..

Thanks!

I remember doing this job myself with a semi-preared mechanic who was a friend's father. Anyway, we only replaced the clutch plate. I'm sure that anything else around there would maybe take another ten minutes to an hour.
It took us about 8 hours to take it apart and back together again. Keep in mind we were semi-prepared. We didn't have great tools, we didn't get around to doing the job as efficiently as possible. So maybe 6 hours for a shop?
