Unhappy Car suddenly not starting

Last night i started my car ( - 20, started fine), drove to my friends, parked in the heated parkade, came out two hours later and the car won't start. It doesn't turn over and it doesn't make any clicking noises. The lights are bright and the stereo and accessories all run. I am thinking that it is either the neutral safety switch or the starter. Any opinions?

I'm personally going to say the starter or ignition switch. We had the same problem with our '82 Celica and my father ever so gracefuly hotwired the car. He ran a line from the negative terminal of the battery to the driver and then another wire from the starter up to the driver. When the ignition is turned, it won't start, but by touching the wires (only with the ignition switch turned, key in) it'll start up.

Okay, i went back and it started right up! Now i'm confused, and wondering when it will happen again.

Is it possible that it had something to do with the weather? Before it died, it was minus 20 degrees celcius outside, then i parked it in a heated garage (about 20 degrees ABOVE zero). Could a drastic temperature change like that affect it?
