USA Flakey Alarm System

A friend has an '88 Toyota Celica. If he turns the key slowly to unlock the door, his alarm doesn't go off. If he moves it too fast his alarm goes off and disables the starter. How do you disable the alarm or fix this problem. I have been trying to help him for two weeks.

Well that sounds like a problem with a shock sensor in the alarm itself. Is it a factory alarm or aftermarkrt ? I say disbale the alarm by finding the brain and unplugging things, or take it to a local shop that deals with alarms and get them to tinker with it till it works.

Shock sensor may have gone nuts or is too sensitive, just find it and calibrate it (they all have a small screw to adjust sensibility or via the remote)

If still flakey then replace before something else goes SNAFU and you end up having to walk home, my former alarm system got so seriously f*** up that it drained the battery... NOT nice.

the horn went bad on my 93, and the remote broke, so mine would always go off on me and it wouldnt let me start the car, even when i flip the lil switch to turn it off, so i found the brain on the driver side kick panel and un plugged it, and it worked great
