Blew my motor, need options (5th gen Celica)

So I blew the motor in my Celica. It just started knocking, and 2 days later it's dead. The issue I have is - I need a new engine. The 4A-FE is pretty rare and the 5S-FE from the Celica GT, Camry, and MR2 doesn't fit my Celica. However, in browsing the internet, I came across this: http://www.nippon-motors.com/Toyota%...%20Special.htm

Quote:
88-92

5AFE
1.5L, 4Cylinder, FI
Replaces 4AFE (1.6L)
Injectors on Cylinder Head

$195.00

for limited time only
The specs I were able to find on this motor:
Quote:
5afe - 1.5 injected - 105@6000rpm
Compression ratio - 9.8:1
So I wouldn't be losing any power and should actually see a slight increase in gas mileage due to the lower displacement and higher CR. So, will this motor fit, and is anybody in the socal area willing to help me install it (I will pay you)?

The 5AFE is actually a downgrade. You'll lose a bit of torque. I'd reccomend a 7AFE, which is basically a direct replacement if you use the 4AFE's sensors. It's a bigger engine, makes more power and a whole lot more torque. If not that... just replace with another 4AFE. 5AFE's are cheap replacements from Japan...

The 5A-FE costs $200 shipped to my door. Can't beat that.
I don't care if it's a bit of a downgrade, cost and ease of swap are my #1 concerns.

yeah but it would be better to go with a 7afe, you could buy a high comp 16v 4age and use your head on it for about 130 HP...tranney and head mate exactly

Nah, I got the 5A-FE for $160 shipped to my door, complete motor.
I'm swapping it in on Saturday.

hey man-
I am in the saaame exact boat. Just posted a thread on it. How easy was the swap in? Did you use parts off your 4afe? did the 5afe come complete? Have you really noticed a difference in driving? (mine has a stick, dunno about yours). Were you happy with nippon motors? Were there any issues with the vehicle computer? thanks- Ryan
