USA brake light on dash,, GO AWAY!!

Hello, this is my first post./ I have a 90 celica gt 2.2. I bought the car for 1000 w/ 80k on it, what a steal. It has been the best car iv ever owned. I recently noticed the brake light on the dash has been coming on now and then, but i just ignored it because i knew that the emergency brake was not engaged. Now the light is always on, it is definatly not the emergency brake, but i can slam on the brakes and the light will go out briefly (like 30seconds to a minute) then it coomes back on. The problem is that i cannot engage the cruise control when the light is lit, but if i happen to engage it when the light randomly cuts off, then the light will not come on once the cruise control is engaged. any ideas on how to keep this light fromo comingf n, iv insoected all brakes and lines and all is fine. is there a sensor somewhere that could be bad, like on the master cylinder? the chiltons says nothing of this----DS

Have you checked your brake pads for wear, this light comes on amnongst other things when the brake pads are almost worn through.

Yep, definitly need to top up that brake fluid. Might want to check your halogen fluid levels while your at it and have a mechanic look at the rotator splint, might need to be adjusted. Should be good to go then. Good luck with your celi, they rock !!

The hood is unique to the GT4. the front grill is also diferent to every other Celica with the extra "holes" for cooling.

you need to add more brake fluid....you're running out....or maybe..you already ran out...once you slam on the brakes...the fluid goes everywhere in that tube and touches the sensor reading that it has fluid again...but it's only for a bit...once the fluid is settled in place and below min...the sensor wouldn't read it....so might wanna check out the fluid..
