I think i found my celica

I finally got info on this celica, the person told me it was a 1990 GT turbo... ok, the first thing that came to mind was that its an altrac, and i thought in my head *woohoo!*.. so i asked, "is this an altrac?" and the person said no.. So i tried to fight with him, trying to tell him that i could have sworn the celicas back then with a turbo were altracs... so if this is a turbo, its an altrac, would it be the 5sfe engine or the 4afe?

Also, this car just may have a custom turbo on it that the guy didnt tell me... any suggestions?

Go and look at it........if its a All-trac it will be four wheel drive, if not, its a custom turbo/engine mod. Or the guys BS`ing you.

so the Altracs all had turbos? and that was the only turbo celica in the 90-93 models?

What is the GT-S celica? does that have a turbo? i'm a noob when it comes to the gen 5 celicas.

the only turbos were awd, and called Alltrac, no exceptions...

GT-S has the 5sfe, if im correct, and it's sportier...

others, such as the ST/STX/GT, etc. came with different engines, including the 3sfe, 4afe, 5sfe, but only the All Trac had the 3S-GTE..

Unless its an imported car, in which case it might be called a GT-four, but you guys over there didnt get the GT-four labelled cars officialy. Toyota did produce other "turbod" engines, but non of them ever found there way into the Celica, so if it has a turbo and its not the 3s-gte engine I`d stay well clear unless he`s done a fantastic job with no problems on the engine swap.

The GT-s Celica came with no turbo.

I`d look around for another car, cause if this guy is talking out his ass already about the car, who knows what else he is covering up, there are plenty of Celicas for sale, and there are some All-tracs for sale aswell so there`s plenty to choose from.

IMHO, i dont like high rpm engines.. i like a more mid range like the 5sfe, but everyone knows the power of the 5sfe isnt much tho.

well he's selling it for 900$... and told me its only highway miles from grants pass to portland, like 130k or something.

its fully loaded, new clutch... hmm

But i was actually talking to my moms friend who was talking to him.. and heres the problem... she was talking to him on the phone, and to give you a history report on this lady.

she found someone selling a car for 5 grand, and she says, "its a dodge viper, it has a nice sun roof, and 3 seats in the back".. i'm sitting there like .. vipers didnt have a back seat... and in white color! made in the late 80's...

then she was telling me about a story of when she owned a 1960's ford fairlane, it did a 0-100mph in 4 seconds and a qt mile of like 5 seconds in that time era... again the fastest car back then was like a ford mustang and its 0-60 was in like 8 seconds and its qt mile around 15 seconds...

So i dont know what to think, tomorrow morning i'm gonna go stop by and actually see the car upclose..

You say 1990 GT Turbo -> 3S-GTE swap into a 1990 GT.
GT have rear drum brake instead of disc.
Only GT4 and All-Trac come with 3S-GTE Turbo.
BTW the 3S-GTE is not high rev. 6500 redline is not high rev.
