I think the signal is coming from the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) mounted in the transmission or transfercase.

Speed sensor, but you have to be carefull... the speed sensor is also used by the ABS computer, SRS/Airbag and Cruise Control... if you dont work properly on it things could get ugly eventually.

Depends on the ECU, there could be 2 speed signal. You need to know which one it use for fuel cut. You can't just kill the signal. You have to feed a signal below fuel cut.

Almost forgot... if it has a 5S-FE engine (5th or 6th Gen) don't bother, fuel cut is at 120 MPH and at that speed the gear ratios can barely move the car a few more MPH further making this mod useless unless of course you mod your engine.

Yeap, but by the time the car hits 120 MPH the revs are at about 5.400 or so and the car wont go any faster (or at least that was the case of my ex-NADM 92 GT-S) so you would be de-restricting a car that wont make it to the former restriction point so it sort of defeats the purpose of removing the restriction. What a restricting mess....

what i'm asking is what kind of signal goes to the ecu is it a pulse or is it 12v + or - voltage flashing to it and goes faster as the vehicle reaches maximum speed ( i have a 165 3sgte in a 91 corolla)

Volt pulse... dont remember the value. I do know that someone tricked the ECU using a determined resistor (0.38 Ohm..???)

i thought if he changed the computer chip , that would change the govener, i deal with abs/ speed units all day and i wouldnt change them, you could have a real problem there.

(ECU using a determined resistor (0.38 Ohm..???) I NEED TO KNOW CAUSE I DONT WANT TO MODIFY THE ENGINE AND I FEEL THAT I COULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE SPEED CUT IF I KNEW IF IT IS A VOLTAGE SIGNAL GOING TO THE ECU also my car did not come with abs brake

This is very simple ppl...

My jdm gt4 came with a speed cut at 192 km.h now to fix this all you do is put the speed wire on a switch.. As you don't go over 200km very often.. when you do want too.. jsut flick the switch and walla... no speed cut then when you slwo down again.. flick it back and you have your speed signal connected again.
Sometimes it does through up a code as you haven't got a speed signal wire up.. but that's to be expected..

I don't know if ECT ECU use the speed signal to govern shift or not.

You need to get Toyota Electrical Manual for you car. It'll tell you what voltage the signal suppose to be. Then you need to find out how many pulse/sec at say just before fuel cut. Make a circult to detect input pulse. When input < fuel cut speed, output = input. When input >= fuel cut, output = less then fuel cut.
Or just disconnect it with a switch. Or switch it to another pulse source.

Or don't go so fast.
