90 celica st what to do

Ok I have my 90 celica st whom after 350,000 + miles decided to almost call it quits. She starts, but if i give it full throttle it goes from 800 to 900 rpms and thats it. I'm wanting to do a swap. What would be your guy's suggestion.

how brave do you wanna go?
Personally im gonna do a Gen 1 3sgte swap in my celica, but you have the choice of the 3sgte gen1, gen2, and if you could find... a gen3. Turbo power seem's to be the only power now adays. If you wanna feal the N/A power you could find a 1990's JDM mr2 GTS engine (3sge) supposidly rated at 160hbs.

i would personally go turbo instead of NA.

how does the body look? sounds like it has been a good one to me.i had a 1987 4runner for 14years and i gave it to one of the boys so he could have a car to drive. with in a week he blew the eng and burned it to the ground . i wanted to see 400k on this one.my point is if i had the truck i wouldnt fix it the body was not in great shape, so maybe its might be time to buy a newer one. i also have a 95 gt, and a 95 stx celica and are both great cars, the 95 gt almost has 200k on it and i dont know if i would fix it or not eather , but i guess its all on how you love the car.

Well I can find another 4AFE motor for $400. So why the hell not. 3 days before the celica died I went out and bought an 05 Corolla XRS. Don't get me wrong I love the XRS but I just miss the celica and it hurts to see it sitting outside. Will a 3sgte swap work with the st, i thought the mounts were different.

Yes mount is different and you'll need tranny and ECU.

I`ve heard tales of supercharged 4Runner engines being transfered into celicas, not sure if its true or not, I`m sure someone here will be able to say if it is. Sounds like it could be an interesting project.

no 3s or 5s motor of any kind will work in your celica without major changes and a bag of money

the 7a with a ge head is a pretty good deal, it just take a little knowledge of motors and a junkyard with cars or entire motors of both kinds

Almost any swap can be done.
The mounts are not the same and turning a ST into a GT or GTS is not very cost effective.
You really need a donor car in order to get the parts AND make sure the mounts are placed in the correct places. A FWD car is just not as easy as a RWD when it comes to an engine swap of that nature.

Drive sane,

Rellik

You can get a new 5A-FE for $150. Makes slightly more power than the 4A that it came with.
