22re engine serial #

I have a 22re motor in my new circle track race car. It is not the original motor. The head is different, the exhaust manifold has 2 more bolts and the distributor has no vacumn advance. I think it 's out of a 85 and up truck. I have the serial number off the left side of the block. Where/how can I find out exactly what year it is? I'm rebuilding it for the upcoming circle track season (4/10 mile dirt track).

Well, I am pretty sure the 22r heads are all the same, now in the mid 80s the block height was changed and head thickness changed and the motor got efi, I have an 87 with a 22r and it has a carb. The way you are explaining it, it sounds like its a late version, probably mid 90s

the 22r long block has only two styles pre84' and 85'and later the 85 and later block has a casting mark about an inch up from the pan about 3/4 to the rear that is round with small ears at 4&10 oclock and is about the size of a 1/2 $. cool a fellow dirt tracker Go fast! turn left! don't crash! roundy rounds rule!!!!!!!!!!

I must correct myself the casting mark is almost directly below the 22r stamp on the side of the block, also the later modle blocks are sometimes refered to as a lazer block.
