Question can this be done?

i know that it's a safety precaution that you will have to clutch in before u can start ur car, is there any rewiring that i can do on my baby so that i can start her without having to clutch in...

thanx...

Why would you wanna do that?
You'll kill the starter if you didn't put the stick at neutral.
Cut or short the clutch switch.

Just waggle the gearstick a bit before you start her up to make sure she`s not in gear, lots of sideways movement then its in neutral, not much movement then its probably in gear, in all my 14years of driving I have never put the clutch in when starting the car, strange habit to get into???? You wont do that much damage to the starter motor if you start the car in gear, it wont like it, and if you do it everyday then bye bye starter motor, but every now and then it wont matter, your biggest worry is running into the wall/car parked in front of you. Just get used to knowing where your stick is when the cars in neutral.

^ like ur rims...

erm.. guess i didn't make myself clear...

what i meant was that each time i have to clutch in before the car would start, be it my gear is at netural or not, if i crank without clutching in, nothing will happen.

ie to say, for me to start my car, i need to clutch in and then crank... wun work without clutching in..

Cause there is a switch in the clutch to turn starter power off.
Again, why do you wanna do that? Beside you just want to try?

well... in the morning, i always start my car, let it warm up a little, while i finish up my breakfast, so it's kinda troublesome to climb into the car, to start it... it i can disable the switch, i can just open the door, stick my hands in and start the car...

^ do u have a soln or an idea or suggestion to remove that switch that u are talking abt.

There is no "switch in the clutch".
There is a normal open plunger switch that part of the peddle arm controlls that is open when the clutch is engaged. Works the same way a break light is activated.
But really...its a safety mesure. Keeps you from running over some kid if you make a mistake and start the car when the tranny is in gear.

Drive sane,

Rellik

I`ve never heard of that before! when did they start putting those into cars???cause I dont have one??? they say you learn something new every day, I must be getting behind the times.

If that is the case, just disconect the switch, but do it in such a way that you can easily reconnect it should you wish to.

Get a remote start.
Don't think you can turn the engine over with the starter when its in gear. You'll burn the starter or break the gear/shaft.

well.. if the safety feature is that i have to clutch in before i can start the car, i doubt that a remote starter will actually work,

or at least i have to find that switch or bypass thingy so that i can start the car without haveing to clutch in...

anyone knows how to remove that safety thing?

Remote starter installer will bypass the switch.
Look around the clutch padel. There is a switch somewhere.

4runners have (had) a clutch override button

just hold the button and turn the key! no clutch pushing for you!
