Question 5s-fe to 2jz-gte

I want to put a 2jz-gte into the Celica GT coupe which i am thinking about buying. I understand that this will require changing the direction of the engine and mounting diffs etc. But can it be done? The car currently has a 5s-fe.

You'll also need a FWD tranny that mate to the engine. ECU and wiring harness is a must and lots of time and money.
The most "efficient" swap is 3S-GTE.

I'm doing a similar swap, depends on what Celica your buying...and I'm getting mine with full harness out of the supra which is half the wiring job done. the main cost is having that done as it is by no means an easy job for the auto electrician.

The 2JZ is too big to mount transversely...

What year..? It wont fit into a 4th, 5th, 6th or 7th Gen Celica since the engines on these cars are transversal mounted (west-east direction) and engine bay space is limited unlike the first generation Celicas that were RWD and engines were mounted in a south-north direction.

He said to replace his 5SFE... so it's limited to a 5th or 6th gen... in other words... won't work transversely/FWD...

buy a RWD...I have a 3rd Gen so thus why my conversion is irrelivant, but why not look to engines like the 3S-GTE??? I was considering it (then realised its a east-west mounted engine) but if I can get measurements and even modify the firewall I want the 2JZ-GTE since I'm using mine for more then just road purposes.

Talk to a mechanic if all else fails darkwolf, 2JZ is a brilliant engine but for a FWD car there are other equal options to persue...
