Celica 2001 SQUEAL noise (Drive belt? Water pump?) PLEASE HELP - Ahhhh!

My 2001 celica VVTL-i is making a lound squealing noise. It comes from the drive belt area, but I cant tell exactly whereabouts.

I dont think it is the drive belt itself, as this looks to be in good condition. It could possibly be a bearing in one of the pulleys (air con, generator/alternator, power steering?)

Has anyone else had the same problems or heard any common faults with similar cars??

Any help would be much appreciated.

I don't know why this was posted in the hardcore-tech forum.

but, anyway... I used to get a slight squeal until my camry was warmed up, I finally bought a belt dressing kit and sprayed the belts and now there's no more sound. $5 well spent.

I'd have to agree with Crawlingeye.... my moms 02 GT had the same thing. All it needed was a new belt.

Just so you know, next time you may not have to replace the belt. I just used a can of 'anti-squeal' spray that you can get at your local advance auto (don't know if autozone has it or not) that you can just spray the inside of the belt with (I did it against the rules, with the car running, so the belt was in motion... I'm such a rebel) and it simply lubricates the belt to remove the dryness that causes it to squeal.

Worked like a charm for me.
