5sfe missing ?

WHen shes idling, seems as though there may be a miss and during low rpm accelration it seems to be lagging in power, more then ever before. It has new plugs, wies, distributor, always new oil and filter, only 217,000kms, possibilities without going to garage ?

Maybe ignition coil. Mine was rusted to hell. Looks good from the top but all the metal plates saperated at the bottom. Hows your ground wires? EGR stuck open? Cold injector problem?

Don't even know where to look for grounds, I'll have to let the coil go from the firewall for an inspection and I dont think my car has an egr, its early 91 gt, so its the 90 5sfe which, from my understanding, doesn't have an egr valve.

EGR recycle exhaust back to intake to lower cylinder temp to lower NO emission. I passed emission without EGR. Main thing is it'll keep intake clean without exhaust pumping back. 2 way to disable it. 1: remove the EGR valva and put a cover plate to block hole to intake. 2: remove vaccum hose that activate it, that's what you see in photo. I found out later that I got a plate blocking it already.

had that same problem twice on my celica. i have a 1990 gt with 370,000+ miles. you may have a clogged catalytic converter or a bad converter in your car. i've had 2 replaced in mine.
