Very high idle 1991 Celica GT

Hello all.........

Just today, my 1991 GT (2.2) started idling at about 2500RPMs (Normally about 1100). After the vehicle warmed up, and even when I reached work, the RPMs stayed around 2500 when at idle. Same thing on the way home. It runs and drives fine otherwise, however I am not sure having this car idle at more than twice the normal RPM's is a good thing. Any ideas on what to look at?? Just did timing belt a month ago, the car ran and idled fine after that..........

Thanks Much

Just bought the PCV Valve..........Is it located underneath the valve cover?? I am somewhat clueless on this. Saw a hose running to the side of the valve cover that was cracked. Removed hose, saw a little metal tip (reminded me of a PCV Valve tip).........ordered the PCV valve hose also. Have I lost my mind or is the PCV under the valve cover?? If anyone knows its location, I would greatly appreciate the heads-up.

Thanks again

Just checked the Haynes manual. Says that 3SFE engines do not have PCV valves. My GT has a 5SFE. I'm guessing there's a PCV valve in there somewhere. Where is it??

Just to let everyone know...............the culprit was the rubber grommit on the throttle body cable. It must have shifted a couple inches on me, thus not allowing my car to return to idle. Thanks for the advice you guys rock!!

would not have guessed that. what is your idle down to now. I know mine is usually at 1100 when I need and oil change. it is about 975 after an oil change?
