87 Celica Starting Problem

My 87 Celica Convertible Will Not Start. My Mechanic Tells Me That The Fuel Pump That Is Under 2 Years Old Does Not Have Enough Pressure To Get Fuel Even To The Filter. Could This Possibly Be An Electrical Problem. The Car Had Been Running Fine. I Stopped To Fill Up Gas And The Level Was Low But Not So Low That The Light Was Showing. Pulled Out Of The Gas Station And Went 100 Yards And It Died. Anyone???

I would go ahead and test the wires coming to the pump before replacing it, but, it sounds like the pump itself to me.
