Idle

Before I did anything to the car my idle was constantly at 900 RPM's. This is what I did to the car yesterday:

Replaced front O2 Sensor
Replaced spark plug wires, distributer cap and rotor
Replaced spark plugs with Iridiums (NGK)
Cleaned throttle body (using throttle body cleaner)

Now when I drive and come to a stop my idle is at 1600 RPM's and after 8 or so seconds it drops to 1100-1200 RPM's. The car drives a lot more smoothly but I'm a little worried about the high idle. I've read back on here and 1200 RPM's seems pretty normal though from the posts I've read. Maybe my car was running a little low on the RPM's before? Haynes says 800 RPM's is the correct value.

Maybe it's just because I re-set the ECU by pulling the negative battery cable and now the ECU has to learn how to idle the car with the new spark plugs (and new hi-flow Amsoil air filter I put in last week)? Probably not... but it could be possible.

It's a 92 Celica ST 1.6 liter. Any info would be appreciated.

This increase your idle. Adjust the idle screw to lower idle. 4A-FE idle around 700-750 RPM. There should be a label on the hood with idle rpm.

Thanks for the info. I was afraid it may have been something else (like bad O2 sensor or for using NGK spark plug wires instead of stock).

I adjusted the idle and all is well
