Broken Speedo, Help?

hey guys, cheers in advance for any info provided, all will be appreciated.

Recently my car (1987 celica 3SGE or a GT3 for the cats in the US) bottomed out over this insane speed bumb, my car isn't even lowered, plus i approached it at about 4Kmh.

my car got jolted pretty heavily, i got out, absolutely cut sick fully abusing this massive speed hump at bout 3:00 in the morning. had my fun, got back in the car, started to drive off, looked down at my speedo to moniter my speed and what does the dial throw in my face.... get ready for it..... absolutly nothing. speedo broke. my mates start pissing themselves and i proceed to drive down the street thanking myself that i am familiar with my tachometer. also the odometer is gone as well. now ive been driving without a speedo for about 1 1/2 months now and havent gotten 1 speed fine, in fact, ive been so conscious of my speed that i now drive like a grandma. i am now fed up of driving like a grandma cos this filthy 84 Shitsubishi magna was giving me cheek on the road yesterday, i wanted to chop all over him but i couldn't unless i had my speedo to be 'cautious'.

anyhow, since everything else on the dash works im assuming that theres no serious damage, hopefully the jolt just knocked something loose.

so if u guys know what could have caused this or how i can find the problem and fix it i would be immensly grateful.

Fredk, youve done me some massive favours in the past, c'mon, help a brother out, hahaha

it has to be your speedometer cable.
try looking at your firewall from the engine bay side and look for a black cable going twards where your dash is that goes through the wall all by itself, it should be about a cm wide and black in appearance, then inside, make sure it still connects to the dial, and if it does, follow it the other way, and make sure it still connects to... something, I'm not sure where it connects on that year/model.
