USA 91 Celica tranni slips out of overdrive

I have a 91 celica auto trans and it often slips out of overdrive. I have 129K on the engine and transmission. Is this common? Easy fix or is it time to get a new tranni? Any info would be appreciated.

Joe

what do you mean slips out of overdrive, does it simply turn the motor loose or does it go to third, 45 mph or so is the time it should go into od and slowing it should come out at about 45, set it on power

What I mean is I will be driving down the highway at 55 or 60 and it slips in to a lower gear (automatic transmission, presumably 3rd gear)? Most of the time when I am going down hill and coasting???

the diagnostic connector by the master cyl, there is a sticker nearby that will tell you what terminals to jump to flash them out on the gage cluster
