Question smoke, fume, you name it...

i was getting some gas the other evening... and as i was pulling out, i could see that there was a lot of smoke coming our of my rear muffler and from my engine... it wasn't far from home, so i got home and looked around, it didn't look bad... but the next day... as i started the car... it started finely, except it had smoke coming form under the hood... where, right underneath the header... something else was dripping... didn't look like oil nor radiant coolings... does anyone have an idea where I could go whereabouts with this? also, another thing to include... as soon as i open the hood and saw smoke... i turned off the engine... tried turning it back on... and it had a hard crank to it... the engine seemed to have this hard crankt o it... very wierd noise... and i haven't heard of it before... a big crank... i tried turning the engine on again... after a few times, with the loud crank, it came back on...

...thanks for your time...

alright, I'm just typing as I am thinking here, so this is not to be taken as fact, just supposition.
you could check your oil level, badly burning oil=smoke, and louder starts, so seals or something

perhaps your engine calls for a higher octane, and with the new lower octane level you ran into detonation, which fried some seals, causing crap to leak around your exhaust manifold.

this one is odd. can you check fluid levels and find out what the liquid is?

thanks for the info s92gt... i've checked the oil, for sure there's no leak... i believe... the oil level is of a good amount... i just had an oil change about a month and a half age...

i was checking my radiator... and there were no colliant water at all... there was still cooliant left in the reservoir... i tried starting the motor again, but it wouldn't allow me... it had this huge, i mean, big noise to it... like something was deffinitely blocking the engine from turning on...

does anyone know how a car sound without colliant?

any ideas on how i could go from this would help...

thank to all that reads...

your header shouldn't have coolant coming out of it, unless it's in your combustion chambers, I.E. blown head gasket.

I thin that might be it... I had a friend came over... he's sort of a semi-mechanic... he know's more about cars than me... so yea... that helped... he explained to me that it may be the Catalytic Converter... could be the gastket of the catalytic converter or the crankshaft o-ring... does that sound right? I guess I was incorrect when I said it was coming out of the head... it was at the bottm of the head, right where the catalytic converter is...

I am planning to take it apart... you have any suggestion s92gt... ill surf the net... this is going to be my first time under the hood of my car... hopefully it isn't that bad... any ideas where I should start... i have a 5sfe motor...

thanks...

forget about everything i've asked... my engine is wrecked... for some reason... some how.. there's a coolant, gas, and oil leak... coming from my exhaust... i was checking my oil dip stick, and i saw that coolant had gotten into my oil pan... or however you say it... it was all green and slimy...

well... i think it just might be time to move onto bigger and better thangs... should i do another 5sfe motor swap... or a 3sgte... or a 5sgte... hmm... pondering... anyone wanna with any crazy ideas... im leaning towards another 5sfe and maybe just turboing it... but im up for other things...

i dont know how strongly built the 5sfe is. but ive heard that the 3sgte is a really strong motor and will handle an easy 300 hp. ive also had some thought about turbocharging the 5sfe but i think it may be easier to use the 3sgte. if you have the time, money, and know-how it would be really sweet to swap it to a new model celica motor. but hey thats a lot of work if its even possible
