key in lock position....will not move

Guys, first off I just wanted to say that I have browsed this site, and its awesome, so I will ask my questions here. I just bought a 91' celica gt convertible from a friend of mine for $600. He said the engine quit running one day when driving, so he had it towed home, and never looked under the hood. I get the car home and look under the hood to find the vaccum line going from the intake manifold to the cruise control actuator box has a hole in it about an inch long. Will this cause the engine to just quit running?

For my second question, the key is in the lock position, and no matter what i have tried, it will not move from lock. It will come out of the ignition, but when i put it in, it will not move out of that position. I have tried wiggling the steering wheel and everything, but it will not work.

If anybody can help me out, I would really appreciate it. Oh, BTW sorry for the questions like this on my first post, but I searched and couldn't find anything. THANKS!

the samething happened to my corolla, the lock cylinder is buggered. first thing to do is to take off the lower dash so you can get to the steering coloum and ignition. then there is a hardened pin that sticks through the aluminum it should wiggle a bit when you mess with the key, if you can get the key into the ACC position you can push up on the pin and the ignition lock will slide out... if its completely messed then carefully drill the pin out being CAREFUL not to mess up the alluminum then again the ignition lock will slide out. To install a new lock use a screwdriver to turn the ignition switch to ACC then turn the key in the new lock to ACC then slide the cylinder into place untill the pin drops into the hole then check to see everything works right and your done

also, for anyone that cares, i got the ignition fixed.........and the reason the engine wont stay running is because of the 3" hole in the side of the block where a rod has shot through!
