'95 Celica Engine Swap

Hi. I'm interested in putting a new engine in my '95 GT convertible. I'm literally just starting my research and this site was recommended to me. I'm looking for suggestions on what would fit and where to look. I'm not looking to spend tons of money or go really high performance, but I'd like an engine that has a little kick, maybe 160 hp or something in that range. Any help or guidance would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave

hi, the option that u can consider is a 3sgte swap and there have been quite a number of threads that touches on and goes in depth on the kind of engine swap u can do for a 5sfe.

do a search for 3sgte swap, or 5sfe swap, u'll find lots of things...

oh, i forgot, the other route is to t/c her.

finally, i'm able to offer advice... i'm so proud of myself.

Build up the 5S-FE with high compression piston, P&P and cams.
Or turbo it.
For 160HP a swap is too much work.

I have a 1995 celica that has been wrecked. The engine and transmission are still in excellent shape. I have been trying to sell the car. I wanted to fix it but due to my circumstances it is just not possible. If you are interested my email is queenvicki33@yahoo.com.

160hp? Do a 2nd Gen 3sgte, 221hp turbo charged with capabilities much higher.

Why do you say not many completed the swap? Is it very difficult to do? I been reading up a lot…that engine seems to have aloooot of potential.

Oh its a great engine undoubtedly, but in a 6th Gen celica I have not heard of anyone whose completed the swap. There are a couple with the 4age but, to my knowledge nobody with a 4agze. This doesnt mean it hasnt been done, but someone who knows what they are doing wasnt able to get it running right, and ultimately took the engine out.

Search this and 6gc.net (94-99 Celicas) for info about a 3sgte swap.
