my 1981 cel runs great but then it cuts off cant restart for 5min its like im out of gas but then it fires back up and off i go just changed fuel pump any thoughts of what hte problem is

has it been sitting for a while? if so you may have water in the gas tank
have you tried any injector cleaners or fuel treatments? you may have cloged injectors. how old is your alternator? maybe its time for it to be replaced... assuming its fuel injected.. there may be a glitch in your computer... im not to familiar with that preticular model but this is just general knowledge
