Talking Started to lower my Baby...

got my MEGAN springs today from ebay, those orange coloured ones.

So started on my project... Autozone does spring compressor rental for free, you get your money back when you return the tools <--- found that out from a fellow TN member.

anywayz, started work at around 5pm and stopped at 7pm. only finished my front right side, damned... hope that tomorrow i can work faster.

it doesn't look like a 1.5" drop, or it might be due to the fact that i've only changed one side... hmmmm

will be working on her again when i get my ass back from scuba diving.

Should i do a write up on the changing off springs?

can't post any pics yet, cause my housemate has got my camera cable with him, took some before pics and some pics of the springs, will post them up by sunday.

Any tips or suggestions from fellow TNer's for the back springs? heard that they are a pain to change.

Hey, here is a way to make this faster and eisier. Do not disconnect the brake line.. Take a Hacksaw and cut the thing that hold it on the strut (not off just throughso it can be bent) then bend it out just enough to get the brake line free. ( it can be bent a few times without worry of it breaking.) the rear springs don't need a compresor on the 5th gen yours should be the same.
(keep the body on jack stands and a seporate jack for the hub) just take the top nut off and remove the top bolt holding the strut to the hub and loosen the bottom one then using the jack under the hub lower the hub and the tension on the spring will be released, remove the spring (now you nay have to remove the bottom bolt) and replace. Using the jack under the hub, jack it into place and replace the top nut and tighten everything up and put the brake line back in place and bend the mount back to original shape. I havbe done all 4 in about 1.5 hrs.
Hope that helped. Email me if you have any questions.

^ cutting... nah.. i think it would be much better to just unscrew them and screw them back later...

finished swopping out the front 2 springs... have to put the rear ones on hold... for about a week... due to time constrant...

By unscrewing them there is a chance of getting air into the system. Air is bad. Do not forget to bleed them if you disconnect them. By cutting thr notch in the bracket and bending it the brake lines stay clear and there is no need to worry about te fluid levels or if the lined will reseal.
