injector o-ring replacement

I am considering replacing the injector o-rings on the '91 gts 5s-fe. Its hard to start
when its warmed up and I can really smell the gas out of the exhaust when it finally does
fire.
I am wondering if any of you have done this job and remember if the throttle
body needs to be removed. My Factory manual has me taking lots of stuff off but the
Haynes is a little friendlier as far as stuff to remove. If it is too big of a
job then I may not do it but if its so so I will give it a shot. Also I still need to do
the stethescope to the injectors and check for continuity but I think I can handle
that.
Thanks for any input as always.
Tom

The o-ring got nothing to do with hard start and feul smell in exhaust. If the o-ring is bid, you'll be leaking gas.
Check your ignition components. See if the coil is weak. Try another coil. Not a bad idea to switch to MSD coil.

I'll check the resistance on the coil here shortly. I have been searching for a MSD coil and have not found one for this car. At least not yet.

Ok I checked the coil and got .4 t0 .6 and sometimes 0 but that may of been my shakey hand. It should be .4-.5 ohms. secondary was 13ohms and should of been 10-14 which is also good. You are supposed to check it cold but it was warm so I'll recheck it this weekend in the morning before running it.
So whats next?

Could a coil being going bad and the car still be running or is a coil either bad or good?

You can use any universial coil.
My coil test out good but it was rusted so bad my car was hard to start.
