rwd conversion

ok, so my friend told me the other day that he saw a rwd conversion on a 2000 celica gt. i was thinking about getting a new celica, but decided against it because it wasn't rwd. my question is: is a rwd conversion on a 2000+ celica possible? if so, how much would it cost? and what would you expect the impact on performance to be?

Hope ya got money cuz it won't be cheap. You'd have to fabricate a hump for the drive shaft and trany, fabricate new mounting points of the engine & tranny, and re-enforce the body because of the big @$$ hole you cut strait down the middle of the car. Not to mention you'd have to find a compatable rear axle and most likely end up fabricating everything to hook that up. Basicly its far from cheap and won't be something you'd do over the weekend.

well i have to admit that's not exactly what i was hoping to hear, but thanks for the input. i've been looking on other forums and most people who ask this question get called ricers. i suppose it'll just have to stay a dream for now. thanks.

Tuner Transformation did a RWD conversion. It took forever and still looked rough. It would probably be easier to cut a body off a celica and weld it to a rear wheel drive car.

By the time you finish it'll cost more then the car. Remember you'll need a RWD tranny to bolt on the engine also. That may need a new ECU for the tranny. You may also need to swap the engine. That's on top of all the cutting and welding needed to get everything in. Its doable but you'll need lots of skill, time and cash to pull it off. Don't even think about it unless you got 20k burning in your pocket.
