74' Celica ST - Won't Start!
I have a 1974 Toyota Celica ST 2.0 Liter, 2 Brl. Carb.
Last night the exhaust hanger decided to work it's way loose. Okay, no problem I thought, damn, I was wrong... the exhaust crack'ed off at the header. So I had to hack-saw the exhaust in two and rip it out of the POS.
To make a long story short I made it almost home; about 25 miles on the freeway. No problem besides the fact it was loud as hell dumping straight out of the manifold. I get on the off-ramp, roll up to the stop light, it's idling okay. When the light turns green I get on it hard and shift to seccond, after that every thing just shuts off. I put the clutch in and try to start it, cranks and fires but won't stay on except for the time I'm cranking it. WTF? So while its rolling I figure I'll just roll it over by popping the clutch out, kind of wants to start but keeps VIOLENTLY locking up the rear wheels. I try this about three times before I'm out of speed.
I went back to where it was today... and I can't figure out what needs to be done!
getting spark to the wires
i think it's getting fuel, (i know it is up to the fuel filter)
possibly the fuel pump
I would think it would be running lean because of no exhaust but I can't figure out wtf is going on!
It will only run for the amount of time that I have the starter on!
Sorry about the shitty post, I'm frustrated!!!
Late,
Brandon
