Question celica gts engine reinforced

I am getting a celica gts 2000 and xs engineering turbo kit. I will also be getting headers, light weight flyweel performance clutch short shifter and NOS. Well I want to run nos to eliminate some of the lag time for the turbo. The only problem is that I don't know what else I need to do to prepare the engine for NOS. I have $8k to spend and I have only spent $6,337 (on paper). One other thing. Should I buy a performance exhaust system or should I custom it from any muffler shop (2-1/4 inch pipe from the catelac converters with a tip)?

Would making it dual exhaust ( adding just a y-pipe and tips) hurt my performace or any thing. I did this to my 03 corolla s and it is Super Loud. I didn't feel like I lost any power though. I just wanted to check before I decide to do this again. (my corolla isn't straight pipes. I put on two performace mufflers....seemed like a good idea at the time)

first off running both turbo and nitrous on an gts with such high compression will be hard you should look into it more before you blow your engine if your going turbo 3 inch exhaust is the way to go i think comp ratio on gts is 11.0-1

Ok sounds like a good idea. Do you have any recommendations of what kind of turbo?

^^wutever he said.
dont even bother to invest in xs engineering turbo. they are just lame and will hurt ur engine badly.

as for nitrous and turbo, its like ur saying putting diesel in a car that requires 91 octane.

u just cant have nitrous plus turbo on a 2zz engine without the engine being heavily modified. u wanna spend some money to lower the compression so u dont break anything in the engine.

i say start with c2 turbo. i duno if they produce stage 2 for gt-s as of now, but u can check it out. once u get the turbo, i dont think ull be needing the nitrous. plus why would u wanna be going lower than 3000rpm if u racing? u just wanna use nitrous on 1st gear to launch til 3000rpm? u will have no traction whatsoever. plus the trick with driving a gt-s is to keep the rpms higher than 6000rpm while shifting and staying in lift. lift with turbo will be more than enough to pass 350z and the other cars in the class.

if i were you, i would've swapped in the 3s-gte motor. that motor is already built to handle a turbo and you would've had do to a lot less work. i agree with stefanoc. no nitrous. if you go with a good turbo kit and push some bigger boost numbers i would consider an aqua-jet system. it will only sacriafice a couple horses but make the motor much more reliable.

as everybody else says, running boost with such a high compression engine will only lead to trouble - best to lower the compression - get less power, but do it more safely.

see if you can find a standalone to run also- not sure if an emanage would even be enough (on the 1mz ecu's it isn't)

High compression engine can take boost and nitrous, you'll have to tune it right with proper fuel managment.
