celica girl needs help...

I have a 00 Celica GTS. When my car is cold and in first gear I am getting no power. My car only has 60K miles. No service engine light is coming on so Toyota is not able to get a error code. But something is definately wrong. Does any one have any ideas. Thank you.

Key words in your post "Cold in the morning" and "no power." Basically if you start your car up and take off or hit red line or "Lift" or VVTI or VVTLI or what ever you call it wont engage until the car is a proper operating temperature. hence the reason why you dont have power in the morning. After proper operating tempature you either dont feel it or dont notice it is because the car is at proper operating temperature and you can rev it and hit proper power.

I have the same car. Mine does it too. It is not a problem with the vvtli, but more related to the fast idle. When it is cold enough to sit at fast idle, if you try and start nice and slow it has nothing below 2000 rpm. If you reve it and slip the clutch it will go. I have not spent too much time trying to figure it out because I use a remote starter all year (get the oil flowing), so I don't have to deal with it very often. I am curently looking at the theroy that it may be related to lower octaine fuel. With a tank of mid-grade and a can of octaine boost, it seems better. If you are not , you may want to try premium and see if that helps any.

My GT used to do that too....you just have to let it warm up enough in the morning. Also make sure the Overdrive button is ON. My car hates not being in overdrive..lol

Reving the engine before it get warm is a great way to increase wear and reduce engine life.
