XXX 91 celica gt od/cruise control problems

Maybe I got this post in the right place this time. I have a 91 celica gt, the od down shifts at the slightest hint of a hill at any speed when in cruise control. I want to make the od strictly manual (that is from the switch on the stick only). The schematics in the worthless Haynes manual I have aren't much help. I have good mechanical and electronic skills, I just need to know where and what wire to cut. Any suggestions?

It down shift because OD don't have enough torque to maintain speed. Keeping it in OD will damage the tranny. You can only lock OD off but not lock OD on.

Well. I don't think you can do what you say you want to do. The tranny on toyotas are designed to help you slow down at a steep downhill, and the uphill shifting is to help you gain more acceleration power. But if you still want to turn that off, I have no idea how to get rid of OT because it's probably connected to the car's computer.

It could be done. Get a copy of Toyota Factory Repair manual. Swap to manual tranny would make more sense.
