i am in need of a new motor in 2-3 weeks... i have a 90 celica gts... i'd like to go back to a 5sfe... but a friend and i were thinking, maybe an upgrade of to an 3sge would be better... i've been looking around and there's a 3sfe.... what's better amongst the 3... i am deffinitely going to turbo this new motor i have.... what could i do w/ these motors?... which year/generation motor should i choose to buy... and oh, can i just use my ol tranny as well, any one know? can someone help... thanks for reading...

Get the 3S-GTE, you are going to en up spending much more money putting a turbo on a 3S-GE and acconditioning the engine than what you would spend on the 3S-GTE.

You can use old tranny but you'll need ECU and wiring harness to use 3S-GE or 3S-GTE. Don't get 3S-FE, its 2.0L and less power then the 5S-FE.
Swap to 3S-GTE if you want more then 200HP. Turbo the 5S-FE if less then 200 is good enough for you.

3S-GTE definitly, we have a few at 6gc that have done the swap and most are very happy with it. When you're done you can go S2000 hunting.

why i say a 3sge or a another 5sfe... b/c... i've got an older step brother who's a awesome mechanic... he'll charge me a few hundred dollars for a motor swap... and another 3sge/5sfe will cost me 300-500 US dollars... that will probably bolt right on to my tranny... less hastle w/ the harness and all... now i've read a lot of forums... and i've messaged many... a 3sgte would easily me $1500 US dollars... that's including other things such as an intercooler, labor, a new tranny, etc, etc... i'd probably end up spending anything from 2g's to 3 g's... (mine as well save up and get something else)

i don't know how much horse i could get out of the 5sfe/3sge... but i've got a buddy who's going to help build a turbo kit for me from ground up... but this turbo thing is just a thought... i've always enjoyed ALL MOTOR races...

anyways... does anyone know what are the potentials that an 5sfe have over a 3sge... or vice versa...

i hope no one takes this personal... if i had the money... i'd deffinitely do a 3sgte swap... or else i'd purchase me a tundra motor and heck swap that sucker in... but unfortunitely, i have to work with my resources... thanks for reading folks...
