The 2JZ will not physically fit in a transverse setup, you would HAVE to make the car RWD. Think more than $10000. A 3SGTE does fit and is a wonderful engine. That's the route to take.

Since you got a A series engine, any of the 4A-GE, 4A-GZE will bolt in. Putting a 3S-GTE in a ST is great but the ST come with small brake so you'll want to upgrade them or swap with GT/GTS. Might cost less if you sell the ST and buy a GTS.

i have a 94 gts with a 5sfe...i dont know what im considring doing...ive learned a lot from the people on this forum and thats why im still here.

i know i have a lot of options with my car and thats something i like. its nice to be able to have a choice in what i want to do with my car. but as it stands, i call it my 2 year project car. if i have everything done within 2 years that i want to do to it....i'll be happy and driving a car that looks good and will take 90% of the cars on the road off the line.

thanks for everyones help in everything so far.

Ok here's your basic options with the 7A:

Keeping your stock mounts and transmission
7AFTE
4AGZE
7A on nitrous

Replacing mounts and transmission
5SFTE swap
3SGE or 3SGTE swap
Camry V6

RWD swap
anything the size of a V8 will fit without major modification to the firewall, the 2JZ will go but you will need to swap in a Supra firewall with some mods to the A/C duct work and dash and you might have some major hood and radiator clearance issues to attend to.

I am currently working on a RWD 3SGTE swap for my 6th Gen. but it also took about 4 months of research and measuring to make sure most of my parts would fit. I am taking the long route and doing a FWD swap first just to make sure the motor works right.

If you got a GTS, do 3S-GTE swap. You'll need ECU, wiring harness and hopefully a MR2 turbo tranny. You can keep your stock tranny until it die.
