Celica or Camry Swap, need Some votes please !

i own 90 celica ST (1.6 Slow POS, 5 spd) and a 89 Camry le
(2000 16valve, automatic) i originally wanted to Swap the celica
into a All Trac, But finding them is a problem, so does anyone
know if the Celica 5spd tranny is compatible with the Camry,
if so i wanted to put the tranny in the camry and do a few mods
(turbo,body kit,exaust,intake) typical ricer stuff. or should
i put the 2000 16valve in the celica (if compatible with tranny)
and yes same mods would go to the celica

any hints, ideas, or answers would be greatly apprecated

In your Celi you have a 4AFE and in your Camry you have a 3SFE, right? Both of these motors are anti-performance motors and do not respond to mods very well. If you do want a motor swap, then I would consider the 2nd gen 3SGE from Japan as posted here, http://www.toyotanation.com/viewtopic.php?t=7021. The 3SGTE is a very good motor and it would make for a killer car, but from the sounds of it you aren't looking for a dragstrip monster. If you do want a 3SGTE theres a bunch of places that can get it, www.toysport.com is one of them.

As for the Camry, I'm not sure if your Celi 5spd will fit, haven't heard of mixing and matching A and S series motors and trannys, but that doesn't mean that it hasn't been done. BTW, the 3SGE w/5spd will drop right into your Camry too.

Thanks for taking the time to post all that, i really dont wanna fork out that kinda cash for that engine and tranny, i just found a all trac celica with 160k on the engine for $1700 but the body is pretty rough, so im not sure what ill be doing now, i just picked up the camry with 130k for $400 and body needs minor work, real nice car though, think im gonna paint it, throw a body kit on it and sell it, then just work on swapping the all trac over, and during all this im still in the process of building a SPL car so im aliittle stuck on money, but i will sell everything i own for a celica all trac hehe, so im not sure whats gonna happen, any more ideas or comments are welcome though, thanks again for that link with the engine and tranny

ok i know what i want to do till i get some money, im swapping all the power items from the camry to the celica (windows locks etc) and i wanna put the 3SFE (auto tranny) from the camry into the celica (5 sp manual) is it possible, anybody know ? i need to do something to this slow thing, im scared of civics right now lol
