need HELP withvery BIG desicion....

okay so i have a 1990 celicaGT and the body is in pretty rought shape right now....im gonna need a new driver side fender and a little work on the underbody. Also the flexpipe has a crack in it so the car is very loud right now. I can get all that fixed and a full repaint on the car plus get my certification for $2100cdn. i know the car will look amazing if i do that but is this version of the car usualy mechanically reliable? i just dont want to put in all that money and then run into a bunch of mechanicle problems....sorry about the long post but some opinions or other options would be great thx alot

yes, the 5sfe is great. just keep up with maintenance at the recommended times and not much can go wrong.

how long do you plan on keeping the car???.....before you do any body work..make sure the motor is in relatively good health.....do a tuneup and get a compression/leak down test to determine how mechanically sound it really is....

the engines fine on it...but theres to many other things i would have to do then just the body work. its leaking gas and im not exactly sure where yet because the tank would have to be taken out to check. My mechanic said it could be the fuel distributer and thats expensive...he also was highly against me fixing up the car and said its not worth it. The brake lines are very rusty so i would need to get them all totally redone too....so now im searching for another car
